This session will provide an overview of | FLMA, Cobra & Health Insurance. It will discuss various scenarios that AONN+ members face when working with patients and families about the health insurance issues. It will provide national resources focused on employment protection, disability rights or workplace accommodations. This session will help in understanding the employment issues that our patients are facing and how we can advocate for our patients regarding these issues.
Identify available Federal resources to maintain/ replace health insurance coverage. (COBRA, marketplace)
Increase knowledge of job roles/ titles internal to medical facility and within community that assist patients with daily living, medical, prescription and insurance resources. (financial counselor, financial advocate, patient navigator, financial services or billing, foundation grants, social worker, town assistance, communities of faith, national organizations, national advocacy or disease specific groups, drug companies)
Distinguish employment categories and what protection / benefits may be available.
(Over 50 employees, under 50 employees, gig workers, self-employed, etc: FMLA, short term or long- term disability, unemployment, sick bank (your own or donated.)
Summarize implications/ benefits to fundraising/ accepting donations for income-based eligibility programs.
