Program Overview

This activity will be planned and implemented through The Academy of Oncology Nurse and Patient Navigators (AONN+), AKH Inc., Advancing Knowledge in Healthcare (AKH), and Center of Excellence Media (COE).

The 2021 AONN Midyear Conference will be held through a proprietary live streaming platform on May 13-16, 2021, and will be certified for up to 16.5 contact hours of CE credit. This will be a 4-day virtual, live-streamed conference and will provide a forum for an open dialogue among the nurse navigators in attendance who are involved in providing navigation and survivorship care services for patients with cancer. It will foster discussion regarding the complexities of the cancer care continuum, including financial considerations, access to screening and treatment, and the impact of personalized care, psychosocial considerations, and the challenges of various healthcare delivery models. Additionally, this conference will lead to new ideas and potential ways to improve the delivery of navigation and survivorship care services. General and breakout sessions will focus on the various components involved in optimal patient navigation and will provide a wide array of perspectives on these issues.

To further extend the educational reach of the meeting, highlights from the 2021 virtual conference will developed as a Monograph and disseminated to the full AONN membership and the oncology nursing community as a CE-certified 8-12 page supplement that will appear in the Journal of Oncology Navigation & Survivorship®, The Oncology Nurse-APN/PA®, as well as a digital monograph on the journal websites: jons-online.com and theoncologynurse.com

Target Audience

This educational initiative is intended for hematology/oncology nurse navigators, patient navigators, and social workers whose focus is on cancer care and survivorship. It will also be useful for nurse practitioners, oncology nurses, advanced practice nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in managing patients with cancer.
