The pre-conference session will provide education surrounding the many aspects related to nutrition that navigators need to know about to better help their patients.
This session will cover practical nutrition tips/pearls of wisdom for navigators such as resources, understanding and troubleshooting feeding tubes, documentation with Medicare for enteral feedings and nutritional management of side effects and weight loss.
It will provide information on the importance of malnutrition assessments and early referrals and discuss the various fad diets and supplements that patients ask about.
The importance of dental hygiene and speech therapy will be addressed in helping to manage the toxicities of treatment.
The use of integrative therapies will be discussed r/t to nutrition and side effect management

The session will address how to build a palliative care program, the difference between palliative care and hospice, differences incurred between inpatient versus outpatient palliative care programs, how Schwartz Rounds can be incorporated into palliative care programs and how palliative care programs can be incorporated in rural and underserved areas.
